Metsä 2023 Sustainability Awards

Helping Metsä achieve sign-up 100% higher than initially planned and Planet Mark certification marking the event as carbon neutral. We provided full service delivery including creative direction, content, website build, sponsorship management, venue finding, logistics, talent management and production.

The Why

Finnish company Metsä in association with the Cleaning & Support Services Association (CSSA) wanted to host their own sustainability awards to celebrate sustainability and CSR initiatives in the UK cleaning industry.

We were asked to provide full-service event management and produce an inspiring luxury awards event.

The Solution

An evening of 5* treatment at Cutty Sark in Greenwich. The awards celebrated the best and most innovative approaches to sustainability within the cleaning industry.

With sustainability at the core of this event, we worked with the client, production and catering teams to help reduce the carbon footprint of the event from 40 tonnes down to 10 tonnes. This was then offset post-event. We used Metsä’s wood to make the awards and worked with a woodworker to handmake the awards for the event.

This inaugural event was a standout success, gathering 64 entries from 43 companies and with 100% of attendees saying the awards were fantastic.

Due to the success of the event it has now doubled in size for the 2025 edition and will now have 400 attendees.

The Results

A carbon reduction of 30 tonnes, from 40 tonnes down to 10 tonnes. This was offset after the event and overall earned the awards a Carbon Neutral Planet Mark Certification.

100% higher sign-up than initially planned.

From the client!

We all recognise the growing importance of sustainability in every business sector and the Cleaning & Hygiene industry is no exception. Our mission with the Metsä Sustainability Awards was to spotlight those in the industry who are leading the way in sustainability best practices. Part of the brief was to make these awards as sustainable as possible themselves, something The Chameleon Agency worked extremely hard to do. Every aspect of the event was considered and measured so that we could review the impact the changes were having. Reducing the carbon footprint by 30 tonnes was a huge win and the success of the 2023 awards has led to an even bigger 2025 event.
